Synopsis

King of the Murgos is the second book of the Malloreon, following Garion and his reassembled band of companions as they travel through hostile territory controlled by the Murgo people, at times disguising themselves as slave traders to move more safely. Their search for the kidnapped Geran and the mysterious Zandramas leads them into contact with Urgit, the reigning Murgo king, whose unexpected family ties to members of the party complicate the group's plans. The company also encounters Harakan, an agent serving darker powers, while crossing desert regions patrolled by dangerous warriors loyal to rival factions. The volume ends with the party preparing to leave the Murgo lands by sea, continuing their pursuit into new and unfamiliar territory.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
