Synopsis

Kushiel's Chosen is the second novel in the Phedre trilogy within Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series, continuing directly from Kushiel's Dart. It follows Phedre no Delaunay, the courtesan and spy of Terre d'Ange marked as an anguissette, as she resumes her old work of gathering secrets through the arts of pleasure she was trained in by her late guardian, Anafiel Delaunay. Settling back into the political world of Terre d'Ange's court, Phedre becomes entangled in a new web of intrigue involving rivals and conspirators from her homeland's nobility, a thread that eventually pulls her away from Terre d'Ange itself and into more distant, dangerous territory as she follows the trail of a threat aimed at the nation she serves.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Phèdre Trilogy): The flagship trilogy, following Phèdre nó Delaunay, a courtesan and spy marked as Kushiel's Chosen, in Terre d'Ange, a medieval Western European-inspired fantasy world descended from Blessed Elua and fallen angels -- historical fantasy/alternate history.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
