Synopsis
Kushiel's Mercy closes the Imriel Trilogy. Imriel nó Montrève de la Courcel and Sidonie, heir to the throne of Terre d'Ange, have openly confessed their love, provoking a national scandal that Queen Ysandre refuses to sanction because of Imriel's descent from the traitor Melisande Shahrizai. To have any hope of the queen's acceptance and a future together, Imriel takes on a perilous task: tracking down his long-vanished mother and bringing her back to the realm to answer for her old treason, a crime punishable by death. The novel follows Imriel as he leaves the political storm in Terre d'Ange behind and travels in search of Melisande, weighing his personal loyalties and the truth of his own nature against the demands of crown, family, and the woman he loves, with the fate of his relationship with Sidonie hanging on the outcome of his search.
