Synopsis

The war can no longer be avoided. Rebel nobles, peasant insurgents and neighbouring princes are all pushed towards open conflict, but things go badly from the start. The armies take the field without ready leaders, and several key figures are dead, trapped or cursed. Twardokęsek, a bandit chief whom the rebels hold in reverence, has to decide whether to chase plunder or to support a rebellion he does not believe can win. The novel is the final part of the saga that began with a lone robber trying to retire, and it follows him and the people around him as the long-expected war in the Lands of the Inner Sea finally breaks out across the land.
