Synopsis
In the seventh Peter Grant novel, Peter, now an expectant father, is drawn into a major police operation targeting the fugitive Martin Chorley, the Faceless Man, after realizing that Chorley is not simply on the run but is quietly carrying out the final stages of a long-planned scheme rooted deep in London's history. The magical death connected to the city's silver vaults that first draws Peter's attention proves to be only one piece of a much larger design threatening the city. To have any chance of stopping Chorley in time, Peter must work uneasily alongside people he has previously had reason to distrust, including his former friend and colleague Lesley May and the unpredictable supernatural trickster figure Mr Punch, as the true scale of Chorley's ambitions becomes clear.
