Synopsis

Little Red Rodent Hood, the sixth Hamster Princess book, blends Little Red Riding Hood with the Three Little Pigs. Princess Harriet Hamsterbone, an established warrior and jouster by this point in the series, is approached by a small hamster girl in a red hood who explains that something strange and unsettling is happening in the nearby woods, all connected to weasel-wolf creatures menacing her grandmother. Harriet and her friend Wilbur follow the girl into the forest to look into the trouble themselves, bringing Harriet's usual willingness to charge into danger to a story that traditionally expects its young heroine to be a passive victim rather than an investigator.

Notes

  • From the series record (Hamster Princess): A completed six-book illustrated middle-grade fairy-tale-parody series about Harriet Hamsterbone, a hamster princess cursed at birth to prick her finger on a hamster wheel and die, who instead treats the curse as a loophole to seek out danger. Confirmed a separate, unrelated universe from Ursula Vernon's own Dragonbreath (a different illustrated middle-grade series) and from her adult work published as T. Kingfisher.
