Synopsis

Whiskerella, the fifth Hamster Princess book, is a reworking of the Cinderella story. Princess Harriet Hamsterbone is reluctantly required to attend a formal ball being held in honor of a visiting ambassador, an event far outside her usual interests. There she meets a mysterious stranger and becomes drawn into the situation of a stepsister who, contrary to the usual fairy-tale villain role, turns out not to be especially wicked at all, along with a fairy's spell that seems to be causing more trouble than help. As Harriet looks past the ball's surface expectations, she finds herself investigating what is really going on with the curse and the people caught up in it.

Notes

  • From the series record (Hamster Princess): A completed six-book illustrated middle-grade fairy-tale-parody series about Harriet Hamsterbone, a hamster princess cursed at birth to prick her finger on a hamster wheel and die, who instead treats the curse as a loophole to seek out danger. Confirmed a separate, unrelated universe from Ursula Vernon's own Dragonbreath (a different illustrated middle-grade series) and from her adult work published as T. Kingfisher.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
