Synopsis

Living Shadows, the second Reckless novel, finds Jacob Reckless facing his own impending death from a fairy's curse laid on him in the previous book, and undertaking what may be his final journey into the Mirrorworld in search of a way to survive it. He learns of a legendary crossbow said to hold extraordinary power, capable of killing thousands or, if fired through the heart, healing a single person completely, and sets out to claim it as his last hope. Jacob is not the only one after the weapon: Nerron, a ruthless Goyl treasure hunter known as the Bastard, is a determined rival, and Jacob must also convince Fox, his shape-shifting companion from his earlier adventures, to help him secure the crossbow before his time runs out.
