Synopsis
In the second Dark Artifices novel, Emma Carstairs and her parabatai Julian Blackthorn travel with Mark Blackthorn and Cristina Rosales into the treacherous realm of Faerie to save the faerie prince Kieran from execution by the Unseelie King, a mission that forces all four to confront desires and loyalties they have tried to suppress. Back in Los Angeles, the Institute faces mounting threats from the ambitious Centurions and from the warlock Malcolm Fade, whose resurrection of his long-dead love Annabel Blackthorn sets off a chain of escalating danger. Meanwhile, young Kit Herondale begins to learn the truth of his Shadowhunter heritage, and tutor Diana Wrayburn finds an unexpected connection with the faerie hunter Gwyn, as personal and political crises collide across both worlds.
