Synopsis

Madness in Solidar shifts the Imager Portfolio forward nearly four hundred years after the founding of Solidar, introducing Alastar, newly elevated to lead the Collegium of Imagers following the sudden death of his predecessor. He inherits an institution in crisis: Rex Ryen, known widely as the mad ruler, along with the High Holders and the Marshal of the armies, are locked in a three-way struggle for power, and each faction threatens the Collegium with destruction if its Imagers do not lend their support. Alastar must confront these external threats while also reckoning with an institution that has grown complacent over the generations and lost much of the influence and discipline it once had, forcing him to reform the Collegium even as outside forces close in.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Imager Portfolio): Twelve novels across three story arcs (Rhennthyl's, then Quaeryt's, then Alastar and Prince Charyn's) set in one continuous world and timeline, treated as a single series rather than a multi-series world.
