Synopsis
Not Quite Scaramouche is the ninth novel in the Guardians of the Flame series, a direct sequel to Not Exactly the Three Musketeers. Jason Cullinane's decision to step away from his claim on the imperial throne leaves the kingdom without a clear successor, and rival contenders begin maneuvering to fill the resulting vacuum. Three of Castle Cullinane's soldiers, the swordsman Kethol, the warrior Pirojil, and the apprentice wizard Erenor, are sent to manage the fallout before it spirals into open conflict, relying on quick thinking as much as combat skill to keep the succession crisis from tearing the kingdom apart.
