Synopsis
Oath of Gold, the concluding volume of the original Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy, opens with two neighboring realms facing political instability at once: Tsaia's long regency is nearing its end, and Lyonya faces an uncertain succession as its aging ruler approaches death without a clear legitimate heir. Complicating matters further, a magical sword capable of identifying Lyonya's rightful monarch has gone missing, leaving the kingdom without a clear path to a stable succession. Paksenarrion, now established as a paladin, commits herself to helping resolve the crisis, drawing on the training and hard-won experience of the earlier books. The novel follows her efforts to address the intertwined political and magical problems facing both kingdoms, as the consequences of her earlier trials come to bear on a wider stage.
