Synopsis

Of Noble Family, published by Mary Robinette Kowal in 2015, concludes the Glamourist Histories. Jane and Vincent receive word that Vincent's estranged father has died, and travel to the family's plantation in Antigua to help settle his estate and see to its affairs. What they find on arrival is far worse than they expected: the plantation is badly mismanaged, its finances in disarray, and its enslaved workers kept in conditions that shock and horrify the couple upon their arrival. Jane, pregnant during an already difficult journey, and Vincent, confronting long-buried fears about his own family and his father's legacy, must navigate both the practical crisis of the estate and the deeper personal reckonings it forces on them, leaning on their marriage to see them through.
