Synopsis

The second book of Darian's Tale picks up with Darian several years after taking refuge with the Hawkbrothers following the destruction of his home village, having since discovered his calling as a Healing Adept and continuing to learn the mystical traditions of his adopted people. Comfortable in his new scholarly and magical pursuits, Darian is forced out of that relative peace when word arrives that another band of northern barbarians is approaching the region his adopted community and its human neighbors depend on for safety. As the threat grows more immediate, Darian must set aside his studies and reconcile his identity as a healer with the necessity of standing up to fight, testing how far his newly settled sense of self can stretch under pressure.
