Synopsis
Priestess of the White, first novel in Trudi Canavan's Age of the Five trilogy, opens the story of Auraya, a young priestess in the world of Ithania who is unexpectedly elevated to the White, the five human representatives chosen by the Circle of Gods to lead in their name, after she distinguishes herself by saving a village. A decade after her elevation, Auraya undertakes diplomatic missions meant to unite the fractious northern nations of Ithania under the Circle's authority, working alongside the other members of the White even as rivalries and suspicions simmer among them. Her efforts unfold against the looming threat of a wider religious conflict between the northern lands loyal to the Circle and southern peoples who worship a different pantheon of gods altogether.
