Synopsis

In the tenth Chronicles of Amber novel, Merlin is summoned back to the Courts of Chaos, the realm where he was raised, and discovers he stands closer to real power there than he realized or wanted. As political intrigue unfolds around him, he must use his wits and magical skill to protect his allies and uncover the truth about his father's whereabouts. Navigating a dangerous court environment shaped by rival factions and competing claims, Merlin finds himself drawn ever deeper into the maneuvering surrounding the throne of Chaos, forcing him to weigh his loyalty to his Chaos-born relatives against his ties to Amber, all while trying to determine who around him can still be trusted.
