Synopsis
Prisoner of the Lagon, published by Kaoru Kurimoto in 1980, is the fourth Guin Saga novel translated into English, following the leopard-masked warrior Guin as he leads his companions in search of the legendary Lagon, a race of giant warriors rumored to be able to help the outnumbered Sem tribes withstand the far larger Mongauli army. With the loose alliance of Sem tribes at constant risk of collapsing under its own internal divisions, Guin must locate these near-mythical fighters before infighting destroys the coalition from within, even as his ally Istavan works separately behind enemy lines to sabotage Mongauli operations. Amid this search, Guin begins to sense, however dimly, that his own unexplained strength and presence in this world may be tied to a larger destiny reshaping the land around him.

Notes
- From the series record (The Guin Saga (English-translated volumes)): The four confirmed English-translated volumes of Kaoru Kurimoto's Japanese-language Guin Saga (Vertical Inc., translated by Alexander O. Smith). A fifth title once catalogued here ('The Wind Sword's Shadow') was removed as unresolvable after thorough research found no matching real Guin Saga volume, English or Japanese. The full Japanese-language saga (130 volumes by Kurimoto herself before her 2009 death, plus further volumes by other authors) runs far beyond this Core Canon; the untranslated remainder is a documented future research lead, not part of this admission.
