Synopsis

Quest for the White Witch, published by Tanith Lee in 1978, concludes the Birthgrave Trilogy, continuing the story of Tuvek, called Vazkor, son of the warlord Vazkor and the amnesiac witch-woman of the earlier books. Having learned of his true parentage and come into formidable inherited powers, Vazkor sets out with grim resolve to hunt down his own mother, the silver-masked, white-haired survivor of the ancient Old Race whom he holds responsible for the ruin of his father's legacy. His pursuit carries him across wide seas, through conquered cities, and into haunted mountain country, testing and strengthening his own magical abilities as he closes in on her. Driven by loyalty to his father's memory and a determination to end his mother's lingering influence over the world, Vazkor's quest brings the trilogy's themes of memory, identity, and inherited power to their conclusion.
