Synopsis

Ratpunzel, the third Hamster Princess book, is a rodent-themed twist on the Rapunzel fairy tale. Restless as ever for a new adventure, Princess Harriet Hamsterbone sets out to help her friend Wilbur, whose prized hydra egg has been stolen, and the search for the culprit leads the pair to a remote tower. There they discover a rat named Ratpunzel imprisoned inside by a witch who turns out to be the same figure responsible for taking Wilbur's egg. Harriet, characteristically unwilling to accept a damsel-in-distress storyline at face value, sets about figuring out how to free Ratpunzel and recover the stolen egg, bringing her usual disregard for princess convention to a fairy tale that traditionally expects passive waiting rather than action.

Notes

  • From the series record (Hamster Princess): A completed six-book illustrated middle-grade fairy-tale-parody series about Harriet Hamsterbone, a hamster princess cursed at birth to prick her finger on a hamster wheel and die, who instead treats the curse as a loophole to seek out danger. Confirmed a separate, unrelated universe from Ursula Vernon's own Dragonbreath (a different illustrated middle-grade series) and from her adult work published as T. Kingfisher.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
