Synopsis

Of Mice and Magic, the second Hamster Princess book, finds Princess Harriet growing bored with palace life when a fairy tells her about twelve mice princesses who are cursed to dance uncontrollably every night until they collapse from exhaustion. Eager for a new adventure, Harriet takes on the quest herself, setting off for the Mouse Kingdom equipped with a poncho of invisibility and accompanied by her loyal battle quail, Mumfrey. As she investigates the dancing princesses' plight, Harriet begins to suspect that the standard fairy-tale explanation for the curse does not tell the whole story, and that there is more going on beneath the surface of the Mouse Kingdom's problem than anyone has let on.

Notes

  • From the series record (Hamster Princess): A completed six-book illustrated middle-grade fairy-tale-parody series about Harriet Hamsterbone, a hamster princess cursed at birth to prick her finger on a hamster wheel and die, who instead treats the curse as a loophole to seek out danger. Confirmed a separate, unrelated universe from Ursula Vernon's own Dragonbreath (a different illustrated middle-grade series) and from her adult work published as T. Kingfisher.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
