Synopsis
Reckless picks up after the events of Powerless, with Paedyn Gray now a fugitive after killing the king in self-defense, and Kai Azer, the new king's Enforcer, tasked with hunting her down despite his feelings for her. Paedyn flees to the kingdom of Dor, a land without the Elite hierarchy of Ilya, where she supports herself as an underground fighter. When Kai tracks her down, he reveals knowledge of her fugitive status to force her into an uneasy alliance, and her allies among a resistance movement move to rescue her, bringing the group into contact with Rafael, who controls the fighting ring where she has been competing. Duty and loyalty pull the two protagonists in opposing directions even as their unresolved feelings for one another complicate every decision they make.
