Synopsis

In the aftermath of rescuing his brothers and uncovering the truth of his own rare and dangerous power as a transformation worker, Cassel Sharpe tries to return to something like a normal life at his elite boarding school, only to be pulled back into his family's world of cons and curse-working when his brother Philip is murdered. Federal agents investigating the killing recruit Cassel for his insider knowledge of organized crime, while the Zacharov crime family with which the Sharpes are entangled expects a very different kind of loyalty from him. Caught between law enforcement pressure and mob obligation, Cassel must also navigate his complicated feelings for Lila, who has been magically cursed to feel intense affection for him, a curse that makes trusting his own heart, let alone anyone else's motives, nearly impossible.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Curse Workers): A complete trilogy of contemporary curse-magic crime novels (con-artist families whose touch can curse, in an alternate present-day where working curses is illegal), a different setting from both Modern Faerie Tales and Folk of the Air.
