Synopsis
Saved from death by a powerful act of Spiriting performed by the Royal Physic Merkhud, the sentient Torkyn Gynt completes his healing in the sanctuary of the Heartwood and lives in hiding, both from his enemies and from Alyssa, the woman he loves, who believes him dead and must find the strength to forgive the king who ordered his execution. The vengeful god Orlac is about to break free, the remaining Paladin are falling under his influence, and only the Trinity, whose identity is still a mystery, can stop him. Tor sends his spirit companion Yargo to find the three Stones of Ordolt and those who hold them, and sets out to track down his old enemy Goth, but his quest is derailed when his falcon Cloot is captured by pirates and he himself falls into the hands of slavers.
