Synopsis
Rise of a Merchant Prince is the second book of the Serpentwar Saga, continuing after the survivors of the Novindus expedition return to the Kingdom with warning of the invasion to come. Roo Avery, freed from his old life of poverty and crime, begins building a trading business and pursuing wealth and status with the same ruthless ambition he once used only to survive, while his friend Erik von Darkmoor continues to rise within the Kingdom's military as it prepares its defenses. The book follows Roo's calculated climb toward becoming one of the richest merchants in the Kingdom, a rise built on shrewd deals and dangerous risks, even as the looming threat from Novindus and the demands of soldiering shape Erik's separate path, and the two men's diverging fortunes set the stage for the war still to come.
