Synopsis

River Secrets is the third novel in Shannon Hale's Books of Bayern series. With Bayern and Tira newly at peace and agreeing to exchange ambassadors, Razo, a minor character from the earlier Bayern books, is unexpectedly chosen to accompany Bayern's ambassador to Tira's capital, Ingridan, despite his own doubts about his usefulness given his talent lies more in observation than in combat. Once in Ingridan, Razo discovers burned bodies near the river and suspects that either his friend Enna or an unknown Tiran fire-speaker is responsible. Captain Talone assigns Razo to investigate quietly and identify who is behind the killings, giving the self-doubting young soldier an unexpected chance to prove his worth as more than a fighter.
