Synopsis
Tellurith leads her displaced House to the mountain town of Iskarda, where she hopes to build a life in which men and women live as equals. Traditionalist Iskardans resist her policies, and her household, which includes two husbands, is a target of suspicion. One is Alkhes, the rough outlander whose arrival brought down Amberlight; the other is Sarth, a polished man from the Amberlight Towers. Each must change his life to make her plan work. To protect what she has begun, the three travel to the imperial capital, Riversend, where they face political plotting and real danger.
