Synopsis

In Ruin, the Banished Lands remain engulfed in the war begun in the previous volumes, picking up mere hours after Valour's events as the conflict hardens into what many now see as a struggle between two clear camps. Queen Rhin presses her conquest of the western kingdoms while High King Nathair, still convinced of his own righteousness, secures the ancient cauldron, one of the seven legendary treasures, with the guidance of his advisor Calidus and the demonic Kadoshim warband serving him. As Nathair edges closer to confronting unsettling truths about the forces manipulating him, resistance to the growing tyranny grows in scattered corners of the realm: the exiled Queen Edana seeks allies among the swamps of Ardan, while the soldier Maquin, hunted across Tenebral by the corsair Lykos, fights simply to survive. Told from multiple perspectives, the story follows these threads as they edge toward collision.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series The Faithful and the Fallen: position 3 of 4: previous Valour (2014) · next Wrath (2016)
