Synopsis

Rule of Wolves opens several weeks after the events of King of Scars, with multiple crises converging across the Grishaverse. In Shu Han, Queen Makhi Kir-Taban moves against her sister Ehri to secure her hold on the throne even as an eerie darkness resembling the Shadow Fold begins spreading beyond the Unsea into Shu Han's territory. In Fjerda, Nina Zenik continues to work undercover as a courtier under an assumed identity, supporting her companion Hanne through a court competition while quietly working to turn Fjerdans toward the worship of Grisha saints. In Ravka, King Nikolai faces open challenges to his legitimacy as ruler while contending with the darkness still inside him and the resurgence of the resurrected Darkling, forcing him and his allies to develop new defenses as political conspiracy, religious manipulation, and supernatural threat all bear down on the kingdom at once.
