Synopsis
In the fourth book of the Shadows of the Apt series, the Wasp Empire's armies march in force as spymaster Stenwold Maker prepares to make his stand in his home city of Collegium, knowing the Empire will not rest until its flag flies over it. Around him, allies and former friends are forced to choose where their true loyalties lie amid the growing crisis. The Weaponsmaster Tisamon favors a far more direct approach, planning to confront the Wasp Emperor himself in single combat, even if it means abandoning both friends and family to do so, though it remains unclear whether he is driven by honor or being subtly manipulated toward that course.
