Synopsis
Sanctuary, the third novel in Mercedes Lackey's Dragon Jousters series, follows Kiron and his wing of hand-raised dragons and their young riders after they flee Alta to escape the increasingly corrupt and power-hungry Magi who have come to dominate the city. Their escape leads them to the rediscovery of Sanctuary, an ancient city long buried by the desert and now revealed, seemingly by the will of the gods, as a possible refuge from the conflict engulfing their homeland. With the immediate danger of the Magi behind them, Kiron and his companions turn to the demanding work of building a functioning community from nothing, drawing in both human refugees and additional dragons as they try to establish Sanctuary as a lasting home rather than a temporary hiding place.
