Synopsis
Scholar opens a new arc of the Imager Portfolio set generations before the era of Rhennthyl, during the Wars of Consolidation on the continent of Lydar. Quaeryt is a scholar serving as advisor to Bhayar, the ruler of Telaryn, and seeks to escape the poisonous politics surrounding his patron by persuading Bhayar to send him instead to the rebellious province of Tilbor. The journey there proves hazardous, and once he arrives, Quaeryt finds conditions in Tilbor considerably more dire than he had anticipated, with unrest running deeper than reports had suggested. Correspondence that reaches him in the province draws him back into the political intrigue he had hoped to avoid, even as he contends with two distinct and overlapping forms of rebellion brewing in Tilbor.
