Synopsis
Seasons of War, the thirteenth book, part of the second phase of the series, finds Valkyrie Cain and Skulduggery Pleasant learning of an impending invasion from the alternate Leibniz Universe, ruled there by a version of the sorcerer Mevolent. The warning comes from an alternate-dimension version of the old enemy Nefarian Serpine, and Supreme Mage China Sorrows tasks Skulduggery and Valkyrie with a covert mission to prevent catastrophe. They assemble a team including Tanith Low, Dexter Vex, and Saracen Rue, equipped with a set of powerful weapons known as God-Killers, and travel into the unfamiliar, dangerous alternate dimension to confront Mevolent before his forces can invade their own world. Alongside the external threat, Valkyrie continues to battle supernatural dangers while grappling with her own self-destructive impulses as the mission unfolds.
