Synopsis
Mistborn: Shadows of Self takes place in the city of Elendel about a year after the events of The Alloy of Law, in which Waxillium Ladrian helped bring down the criminal gang known as the Vanishers and was deputized as a special lawman within the city constabulary. Working alongside his partner Wayne, Wax investigates crime in the growing metropolis while still shadowed by the memory of Lessie, the woman he lost years earlier to a killer he never caught. His routine is disrupted when assassinations target the city's crime bosses and the governor's own family, and the evidence points to a killer with abilities unlike any Wax has faced. Guided by cryptic warnings from the god Harmony, Wax and Wayne race to identify the source of the attacks before the unrest engulfs Elendel and threatens the fragile order Wax has spent the past year trying to protect.
