Synopsis
Mistborn: The Bands of Mourning finds Waxillium Ladrian in the industrial city of Elendel, still recovering from the events of Shadows of Self and preparing to marry Steris, a match arranged to secure his family's standing. His plans are upended when his old partner Wayne interrupts the wedding, and a kandra ally named VenDell asks for his help tracking down the legendary Bands of Mourning, ancient arm braces once worn by the Lord Ruler that are said to grant their bearer extraordinary power. Wax, Wayne, Steris, and Wax's sister Marasi set out on a journey beyond Elendel toward the distant city of New Seran and the region of his upbringing, aware that his estranged uncle Edwarn and a shadowy organization called the Set are also hunting the artifact. As tensions rise between Elendel and the outer cities, the group must reach the Bands before their rivals do.
