Synopsis
Shards of Time is the seventh and most recent Nightrunner novel, sending master spies Alec and Seregil to a sacred island where a governor and his wife have been murdered inside a locked, heavily guarded chamber. The circumstances of the killing defy easy explanation: witnesses to the crime have been driven to madness by what they describe as supernatural phenomena surrounding the deaths. As Alec and Seregil investigate, they come to suspect that some ancient evil, long confined to the island, has begun to stir, and that stopping it before it can fully awaken and escape its prison may be beyond even their considerable skills.
