Synopsis
The sixteenth Valdemar short-story anthology, edited by series creator Mercedes Lackey, collects original tales from Lackey and about twenty other contributing authors. Following the established format of the anthology line, it offers a set of independent stories rather than one continuous plot, centered on the kingdom's Heralds, their telepathically bonded Companions, and other people whose lives intersect with them. As in earlier volumes, several stories continue characters and miniseries carried over from previous anthologies, while others introduce new figures and situations, together exploring the lighter and more mischievous side suggested by the collection's title alongside the more serious challenges its characters face in serving and living within Valdemar.
