Synopsis
Siege of Darkness, the third book of the Legacy of the Drow quartet, is set against the backdrop of the Time of Troubles, a period of magical upheaval affecting the wider world. In Menzoberranzan, Matron Baenre, bolstered by the favor of the spider goddess Lolth, gathers a coalition of drow houses with plans to strike directly at Mithral Hall, the dwarven stronghold defended by Drizzt Do'Urden and his companions. As word of the coming attack spreads, the svirfneblin, the deep gnomes whose own city lies in the drow's path, realize they cannot withstand such an assault and are forced to abandon their home entirely. With Lolth's will driving the drow onward and old enemies converging from multiple directions, the novel builds toward a confrontation that will play out both on the surface at Mithral Hall and deep within the tunnels of the Underdark.
