Synopsis

Slay is the thirtieth novel in the Anita Blake series, picking up soon after the events that saw Anita, Jean-Claude and Richard's triumvirate withstand an ancient threat to Jean-Claude's power over America's vampires. With her wedding to Jean-Claude approaching and having already weathered doubters within the supernatural community, federal marshal and necromancer Anita Blake now faces a very different kind of challenge: introducing her devoutly religious human relatives to her vampire fiance. Anita has to navigate her family's conservative beliefs and their likely reaction to Jean-Claude and the rest of her unconventional household, all while continuing to balance her ongoing law-enforcement work and her relationships with Micah, Nathaniel, Richard and the others. The novel follows Anita as she tries to bring these two very different worlds together without letting either side alienate the other before the wedding can take place.
