Synopsis
After the War of the Gods, the demons were cast out and fell to the world, and the land of Lok came to be ruled by the Law, under which the old gods are forbidden and the casteless live as untouchables. Ashok Vadal is a Protector, the most feared of the Law’s enforcers, and the bearer of Angruvadal, an ancient sword of black steel. No one is more merciless in rooting out those who secretly keep to the old ways, and for him everything is black or white, until he discovers that his entire life has been a fraud. Ashok is not who he thinks he is, and when the truth comes out he finds himself on the other side of the Law he has always served, drawn into a rebellion of the very people he was raised to hunt.
