Synopsis

Son of the Storm, published by Suyi Davies Okungbowa in 2021, opens the Nameless Republic trilogy on the invented continent of Oon. Danso is a gifted young scholar in the walled city of Bassa, more drawn to forbidden stories of lands beyond its borders than to the prestigious future his mentors expect of him. His curiosity leads him to a chance encounter with a warrior named Lilong, who wields a form of magic officially believed not to exist within Bassa's carefully controlled society. That single meeting sets Danso on a path that collides directly with secrets Bassa's ruling class has worked hard to keep buried, forcing him to weigh his comfortable, sheltered position in the city against the pull of truths its leaders would rather he never uncover.
