Synopsis
Soul of the Fire centers on a mysterious force called the Chimes, released by dark enchantments, which begins draining magic out of the world and causing widespread failures among those who depend on it. At the same time, the small nation of Anderith wavers on the edge of surrendering to the invading Imperial Order, a decision that could hand Jagang's forces a devastating weapon. Richard and Kahlan travel to Anderith to prevent the nation from capitulating, even as the loss of magic threatens their own abilities and allies. The two crises converge, forcing Richard and Kahlan to fight simultaneously to preserve magic itself and to stop a strategically vital land from falling into enemy hands.
