Synopsis
Stonecutter, a Sword that can shape mountains and diamonds alike, vanishes from a desert caravan led by Prince al-Farabi. It was taken from the tent of a young physician named Kasimir. The renowned Magistrate Wen Chang, who is said to read people's hearts, agrees to investigate the theft. The trail leads toward the walled city of Eylau, where a sculptor is at work for a temple devoted to pleasure, a lapidarist is preparing to cut a valuable diamond, and a skilled assassin is also hunting the Sword.
