Synopsis

Legendary fighters and fugitives from both the North and the South, Tiger and Del continue their quest to uncover the mysteries of Tiger's origins, and discover that he is heir to a powerful magic that could hold the key to his ultimate fate. Returning to the South from Skandi, Tiger, who to save Del's life once broke his vows as a seventh-level sword-dancer and declared himself elaii-ali-ma, outcast, must face the men who are bound by that oath to kill him, among them friends who once trained beside him at Alimat. The sixth novel was written and published as the last of the saga, and reads as its conclusion: the long question of Tiger's magic, his sword and his place in the world is answered, and the two of them earn, for a while, a life.

Notes

  • From the series record (Tiger and Del): Jennifer Roberson's Sword-Dancer saga (1986-), told in the sardonic voice of Tiger, the Sandtiger, a Southron sword-dancer, and following his partnership with Del, a Northern sword-singer: duels in the ritual circle, souls bound into blades, and the long question of Tiger's origins. Six novels published 1986-2002 as a complete arc, then two more (2013, 2022) with a ninth mentioned.
