Synopsis
For the first time in years, life seems settled for Tiger and Del: they are raising a two-year-old daughter and running a school at Tiger's old home to teach sword-dancing. Then Tiger's grown son Neesha, who arrived at the school to train with the father he never knew, is restless for the adventure the stories promised, and the three of them ride out together into a South that has not forgotten Tiger's broken vows. Published more than a decade after Sword-Sworn, which had been presented as the series' end, the seventh novel was described by one reader as a Tiger and Del greatest hits: circles, challenges, old enemies and the magic that Tiger has never fully mastered, with the next generation now in the circle beside him.

Notes
- From the series record (Tiger and Del): Jennifer Roberson's Sword-Dancer saga (1986-), told in the sardonic voice of Tiger, the Sandtiger, a Southron sword-dancer, and following his partnership with Del, a Northern sword-singer: duels in the ritual circle, souls bound into blades, and the long question of Tiger's origins. Six novels published 1986-2002 as a complete arc, then two more (2013, 2022) with a ninth mentioned.
