Synopsis
The sixth novel opens at the end of winter with the arrival by sea of an unfamiliar hunter, a man of ancient lineage and grim purpose who recites the names of the demonic beings he means to destroy -- among them Achmed, now ruling as the Assassin King of Ylorc, whom the hunter knows by an old, forgotten name. His arrival coincides with two significant gatherings taking place at the same time elsewhere in the world, both freighted with consequences for the wider political landscape the series has built up. As these threads begin to intersect, Achmed and his allies must reckon with the hunter's intentions and with the larger conflict that these simultaneous events set in motion, in a story that promises a confrontation of sweeping scale.

Notes
- From the series record (The Symphony of Ages): Publication order = internal chronology throughout, confirmed by the author directly (Fantasy-Faction 'Cauldron Interview', 2018): a first trilogy, two bridge novels, a second trilogy, and a capper. Corrects several commonly-repeated years: Destiny is 2001 (not 2000), The Merchant Emperor is 2014 (not 2010), The Hollow Queen is 2015 (not 2013).
