Synopsis

The Black Song, the second book in the Raven's Blade duology, picks up directly after The Wolf's Call. The Steel Horde, led by the warlord Kehlbrand, who believes himself divine, has already devastated the Venerable Kingdom and now presses on toward the other merchant realms. Vaelin Al Sorna stands as one of the few forces capable of resisting Kehlbrand's advance, but he is far from his old strength: his army has scattered, he is being hunted, and he has acquired a new, more dangerous facet of his blood-song, one that feels as much a curse as a gift and threatens to pull him toward methods he once refused to use. The novel follows his attempt to rebuild a resistance and hold to his own principles while an apparently unstoppable conqueror closes in.

Notes

  • From the series record (Raven's Blade): Complete direct sequel duology to Raven's Shadow, continuing Vaelin Al Sorna's story in the same continuity.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
