Synopsis
Years after they were hunted by the powerful Sky Wardens, Sal and Shilly live a quiet life in the coastal village of Fundelry. Then an old friend, the Sky Warden Tom, comes looking for them: Sal’s father, Highson Sparre, has called up a creature from the Void Beneath, the Homunculus, and is now missing, presumed dead, while the creature is loose in the world, deadening the Change wherever it passes. If Sal and Shilly help to track it down and find Highson, they will be granted amnesty for their past transgressions. Old friends and old enemies are not always well met, and the two of them must come to terms with their world all over again.
