Synopsis

The Book of Life (2014) concludes Deborah Harkness's All Souls Trilogy. Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont return from sixteenth-century London to the present day, only to learn that a member of Matthew's family has been killed in their absence, an act that intensifies the dangers already surrounding them. Now carrying more of her awakened magical power, Diana continues the search for the remaining pages of Ashmole 782, the enchanted manuscript believed to hold answers about the biological origins of witches, daemons, and vampires. The couple pursue those responsible for the killing and for the theft of the manuscript's pages, drawing on the help of Diana's family of witches and Matthew's extended vampire clan.
