Synopsis
The Book of Lost Tales: Part Two, published in 1984, is the second volume of Christopher Tolkien's History of Middle-earth series, presenting the earliest versions of stories that would become The Silmarillion, framed as tales told to a mortal visitor to the Elvish isle of Tol Eressea. It contains the first forms of the tales of Beren and Luthien, Turin and the Dragon, the Necklace of the Dwarves, and the Fall of Gondolin, each followed by Christopher Tolkien's commentary and associated poems.
