Synopsis
The war of the gods has reached Guerdon, and the city is split among three occupying powers under a fragile armistice. Spar Idgeson, now the living stone of the New City, is losing his powers, and the Ghierdana, a criminal group devoted to dragons, are closing in on the city's trade. Carillon Thay leaves Guerdon to search for a cure for Spar in Khebesh, a distant land, and finds herself caught in the schemes of the Ghierdana and in her own past. The gods themselves want revenge on her. Meanwhile Rat, a ghoul, has grown more important, and a plague that turns people to stone troubles the city's daily life.
